Angella Barr, MD joined Chemical Dependency and Treatment Associates Inc. in February, 2015 and assumed responsibility for its business administration. Dr. Barr is a fellow-trained and board certified addiction medicine specialist, with a unique skill for buprenorphine (Suboxone) treatment for addiction and pain. Her other specialties include general medication management and treating chemical dependencies during pregnancy.
Dr. Barr’s education and training took her from one coast to the other and back again. She received her B.S. from the University of Nevada, Reno and her MD from Columbia University of Physicians and Surgeons, New York, N.Y. She interned in New Jersey and did her residency at Kaiser Permanente in San Francisco before receiving her fellowship training at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center and the University of California, San Francisco.
Dr. Barr also received specialized training in psychotherapy, allowing her to use psychotherapeutic concepts to get to the root cause of addiction and develop a more effective treatment plan.
Dr. Barr is an active member of the California Society of Addiction Medicine. She has served in several leadership roles, helping to educate fellows, residents and other physicians. She also served on the committee to develop policies around opiate dependency and pregnancy.
